Who I chose for my famous influential person.

For my influential person I chose Mahatma Gandhi. I chose Gandhi because I believe he is one of the top freedomfighters against racists and xenophobics. One of the things he did which changed the world was the famous salt march or in hindhi the namak satyagraha. I will now tell you a bit about the salt march. The salt march was a non-violent protest against the british salt tax in colonial India. It was the first act of organized and planned opposition to british rule since the Purna Swaraj. Unfortunately Gandhi was arrested on the 5th of May 1930 just days before his planned raid on the Dharasana Saltworks. Now you may think that it all endedand nobody really cared it didn't change anything but thats wrong the salt march drew world-wideattention to the Indian independence movement through extensive newspaper and newsreel coverage. Also once when Gandhi was living in South Africa he had payed for first class but at that time coloured people weren't allowed on the first or second class they were only allowed on third class . Anyway when tthe train conducter saw this he told Gandhi to go back but Gandhi stayed where he was and didn't move so was thrown of the train. This is why I chose Gandhi
